On December 19, Patently Apple posted a report titled "Apple Shakes up Management in India as iPhone Sales Slump." The slump in iPhone sales in India has opened the door for a radical slash in pricing for their made in India iPhone SE in order to move inventory as Apple is preparing to introduce a new iPhone SE later this year. At the moment, the fire sale is only at Amazon India.

An India publication posted a report about the sale by giving us a run down of the pricing evolution that has taken place in the last 18-24 months. The report noted that last year, Apple launched the compact iPhone SE with prices starting from $608 (Rs 39,000) for 16GB variant and $685 (Rs 44,000) for 64GB storage variant. Apple later discontinued the 16GB variant and replaced it with 32GB variant. The company also slashed its price to $405 (Rs 26,000), making it among the most affordable iPhones in India after the ageing iPhone 5s.

Now the fire sale begins. The report noted that the iPhone SE 32GB storage variant has now received a flat $124 (Rs 8,000) discount on Amazon India. This brings down the price to a tempting $280 (Rs 17,999).

Amazon India is also offering up to and additional $109 (Rs 7,000) off when you exchange your old smartphone for a new iPhone SE. Of course, the exchange amount depends on the brand, model, age and condition of the phone that you are exchanging.

To recap; the iPhone SE was 32GB went for $608 in 2016 and with Amazon's fire sale on right now (according BGR India), the same iPhone is reportedly selling for $280 and as lows as $170 depending on the trade-in device's year and condition. It'll likely round off to $210 on average with a trade-in. Quite the crash to earth for the iPhone SE. If you want an iPhone in India at a hot price, now is the time with the window closing fast.
